COOMBE / COUMBE

The Coombe or Coumbe family have been the subject of extensive study by David Coombe. His family from North Hill have lived in Australia since the mid 1800s. You can read more on his website by clicking here.

Isaac Coumbe and Henry Pearse Coumbe were brothers and were born in North Hill. Both brothers were transported to Australia in March and May 1844 for separate crimes.

The Ring o’ Bells in North Hill village was the area’s primary public house for many years. For much of that time the Coumbe family were the landlords.
