The view from Robert’s late mother’s home at Barn Park
and Hawk’s Tor on the skyline dominates the view. The nearby hill fort at Allabury probably dates back to the 4th
century BC. EC Axford described it as an
earthwork erected by iron age Celts and a substantial rampart is mostly
intact and the Romans probably made use of it’s strategic position between Hawk’s Tor and
the valley of the Withybrook below.
